The big day was fast approaching and not only was there rain in the forecast, there was snow as well. Great. Not only would it be wet, it would be freezing just to top it all off. However, when Camille told me “rain or shine, ‘the sun’s in our hearts'” I knew that no matter what, everything would work out just fine. Those words meant a lot coming from a girl who would be leaving the sweltering 90 degree weather of the Philippines to get married in cold and wet DC.
If I had to choose one word to describe the love between Camille and Josh, it would be ‘poetic’. It’s the love that you would think surely only exists in beautiful works of literature. But here it was, as real as could be. I would have believed them if they had told me they would be happy to just be with each other on their wedding day. Sure, pretty things are really nice to have, but definitely not a necessity when you have a love like this 🙂
Josh is from DC. Camille is from the Philippines. Opposite sides of the world. So to be together, they literally cross the oceans for each other. Hmmm maybe it was befitting after all to have so much water around them on their wedding day 😉
I’m not exactly sure what the conversation was like here but I can imagine it went something like this:
Friend: Your photographer made you stand out in the rain without an umbrella?!
Camille: She did, she really did *sniff sniff*
Sigh, the things I make people do for portraits. But in my humble opinion, I thought it was worth it and I hope you guys do too 🙂
Although this was my first time meeting these two, I felt like I was witnessing the marriage of dear friends whom I have known for a really long time. Surely any outsider who would have watched them exchange their heartfelt vows wouldn’t be able to help but be moved and feel a connection with them as well. I loved that they took the time to handwrite such sweet and personal vows to each other.
First kiss as official husband and wife 🙂
After the beautifully tearful ceremony, it was time for some light-hearted laughter!
Josh took his husbandly duties very very seriously. First of which…
… was to let his beautiful but shivering wife wear his jacket of course 😉
And beautiful she is 🙂
Not only does Josh love Camille, so do her friends. Like a lot a lot. Enough to honor my offhanded request to kiss her on the cheeks. Little did she know they would actually do it 😉
I believe her words were, “She made out with my cheek!! She made out with my cheeek!” Yes, she was traumatized. Very very much so. But said trauma was soon forgotten once…
… she was back in the arms of her sweet loving husband. Ah that’s better 🙂
Camille and Josh, thank you so much for having me document such a special day. I thoroughly enjoyed every memorable moment. Wishing you all the love and happiness together for many many many years to come! 🙂
